FireFlyz Landscape Edition FAQ
“I don’t have a Landscape Lighting system, but I want to purchase the Landscape edition because I have heavily shaded areas where the solar version doesn’t work? “
If you don’t have an existing Landscape lighting system and just want to run one or two of the Fireflyz Landscape Edition, you can purchase a small, waterproof power supply from Amazon similar to this to run 3 to 4 FireFlyz. Just do a Google or Amazon search for “12 volt 2 amp outdoor power supply”. If you want to run 12 to 24 Fireflyz, then consider purchasing a Landscape Light power supply like this. Just do a Google or Amazon Store search for “Landscape Lighting Power Supply”.
QUESTION: “My Fireflyz does not move or illuminate ?”
First, make sure that your Landscape lighting ground cable is producing 12V AC. If it is and the Fireflyz is still not illuminating or moving, check the connections where the Fireflyz is connected to your ground cable using the waterproof connectors. To further debug the issue, remove the Fireflyz from your ground cable and ground, and test the unit using a separate 12V supply - i.e., car battery charger, etc. If the unit still does not operate, please contact me using the “Contact Us” tab at the top of the Home Page.
QUESTION: “When unpacking my Fireflyz, one or more of them resulted in a bent wire strand. What can I do to straighten it ?”
For optimum operation, the Fireflyz wire strand needs to be completely straight. Gently bend the wire strand near where it is attached to the rotating armature. while holding the rotating gentle bend the stand in the opposite direction of its bend until it straightens.
QUESTION: “ Is my Fireflyz waterproof ?”
Your fireflyz is IP66, meaning they are water resistant to strong spray and can be used outdoors in any weather conditions. They are water resistant ONLY when the stake and rubber o-ring are installed between the lower housing and bottom housing. Do NOT submerge your Fireflyz, making sure that it is installed with approximately one inch of clearance above any standing water. Also, if you can avoid it, keep the Fireflyz out of the field of sprinklers. Water sprayed on the Fireflyz will not harm it, but water spot buildup on the solar cell will degrade the recharging performance.
